A police officer in the UK only realised he had been shot when doctors found a bullet in his mouth.
The unnamed officer's police car was fired at in Lincolnshire after he had attended a house and faced a 12-hour stand-off following reports of a man with a firearm.
The policeman was treated in hospital and discharged on the same day after medics discovered the bullet.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police is quoted by the Buxton Advertiser as saying: "I've not seen it but it can't have been a large bullet otherwise he would have realised. It is currently being looked at by our ballistics team whose findings will help form part of our investigation into the incident."
