Kate Middleton will no doubt be feeling a few pangs of nervous energy as she prepares to undertake her first solo official engagement tonight.
The Duchess of Cambridge has been on many public visits with her husband, Prince William, since their wedding last April.
But with the prince away on duty with the RAF, it’s the perfect chance for Kate to branch out on her own, and show everyone that she’s ready to serve as a royal in her own right.
Tonight Kate, 30, will visit the National Portrait Gallery's Lucian Freud exhibition for a private viewing, which kicks off at 7.30pm.
Some of the biggest names in the art world will be in attendance, but all eyes will no doubt be on the stunning duchess.
There will be no need for her to worry though; as a former history of art student, Kate will be able to more than hold her own during conversations about the pieces on show.
The duchess has also reportedly been getting some tips from the Queen on flying solo as a member of the Royal Family, and has been attending “lessons” with HRH at Buckingham Palace, to prepare herself fully for life in the public eye.
One courtier told the Daily Mail: “The Queen is taking a very close interest in the Duchess’s development.”
