Monkeys are being given wine as a remedy against flu at a zoo in Kazakhstan.
The primates are being given a concoction - which contains red wine diluted with hot water and mixed with sugar and fruit - as a means of "relaxing" the animals.
Karaganda Zoo chief animal specialist Svetlana Pilyuk said it was "normal practice" to give the monkeys such a remedy in zoos.
She said: "We give the monkeys wine because in the winter it protects them from respiratory infections.
"After all, primates are just like people - they enjoy drinking an alcoholic drink. Some of them even abuse it, coming up to the drinking trough several times."
