The One Direction lads have been having the time of their lives these past few weeks, making waves across the pond, but they are determined not to change for the US market.

According to reports, American record executives see Harry Styles as the shining light in the band and they are keen to make him the frontman.

An insider told the Daily Star: “Columbia music execs are rubbing their hands with glee. It looks like One Direction are going to be absolutely massive in America.

“They decided long ago that Harry is a natural frontman. He’s funny, confident and has a great voice.”

But Harry’s having none of it. The hearttrob has no interest in being singled out and wants to remain equal with his BFF Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan.

A friend of the group said: “They are determined to carry on the way they have been – without a lead singer. Harry certainly hasn’t asked for all this attention.”

Just like the UK, the One Direction boys have been causing quite a stir amongst the young ladies Stateside.

Harry captured the attention of Katherine Schwarzenegger – film star Arnold’s daughter – and she Tweeted: “Just watched my first One Direction video w my cousin and @Harry_Styles is a cutie indeed [sic]!”

Although they have loved their US adventure, One Direction are delighted to be back to normal (well, as normal as life gets when you’re part of one of the UK’s most popular groups), having just returned to the UK, ahead of their performance on Dancing on Ice this Sunday.

Harry, who celebrated his 18th birthday yesterday, Tweeted: “Touch down!!! Back home :)”

Nice to have you back boys.

ONE LOVE

I think this is stupid. I'm from America and I've been a fan of the boys for a while now and nobody here want's Harry to be the lead singer. We want ALL of them to stay how they are. I really hope this is just another stupid rumor because it's really making America look bad.
