The Duchess of Cambridge received an impressive array of gifts for her 30th birthday on January 9, but none as special as the puppy Prince William gave her.
The royal couple have adored getting to know the new addition to their family, which is apparently a cocker spaniel - not a Labrador as many initially thought.
A palace aide is said to have spoken about the pup to US Weekly, saying: “He belonged to a litter of cocker spaniels from one of Carole Middleton’s friends near home.”
The aide continued: “At first they had just taken it home for a short time, to see how they [would] adapt.
“William and Catherine fell in love with the pup instantly and it wasn’t long before they decided to keep him. He’s now part of the royal fold!”
As yet, no one knows the name of the little chap but sporty Kate and William have been enjoying long walks near their home in North Wales, training and exercising the energetic young dog.
A source told The Mirror: “The dog is ever so cute.
“The Duke and Duchess have been seen with it several times and he runs along at their heels.
“They are constantly in fits of laughter as it tries to catch them up.”
