Amanda Holden’s husband Chris Hughes has thanked the medical team who saved the star’s life, after she suffered complications following the birth of her daughter.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge spent three days in a critical condition in intensive care after reportedly losing pints of blood when she gave birth to her second daughter with Chris, Hollie Rose, on Monday (January 23).

Amanda is now said to be stable in hospital, and Chris – who has been by his wife’s side since she was admitted - has paid tribute to the medics who fought to save her.

A spokeswoman for the couple said: "Chris would like to thank all the medical staff and everyone who has been involved in Amanda's care."

No details of Amanda’s condition have been released, however it is believed she lost large amounts of blood during the birth and needed a transfusion.

The couple's spokeswoman said no further details would emerge until Amanda herself gave the go-ahead.

She said: "Until Amanda is in a position to indicate what she wants to say, there's no more information I can give.”

The star is expected to make a full recovery, following time off work to rest and recover, and is believed to be staying in hospital until the end of the week.

Amanda gave birth to Hollie Rose on Monday, but because she was rushed into intensive care she didn’t meet her little girl until Wednesday.

A source told Mail Online: “Amanda is still extremely woozy - she has been under heavy sedation following Hollie’s birth.

“She was in intensive care for three days, you definitely cannot bring a  newborn into intensive care, so Wednesday night was the first time she  could have met Hollie after doctors judged that she was stable.”

Little Hollie, who weighed in at 6lb 1oz,  is reported to have been put in an incubator as she arrived prematurely, but the baby was not believed to have been in any danger.

Amanda is thought to have been healthy throughout her pregnancy, but the former Cutting It actress has suffered complications in the past.

In 2011 Amanda tragically delivered a stillborn baby boy seven months into the pregnancy. In 2010 she also suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage.

Then in September 2011, just weeks after announcing the happy news that she was expecting Hollie, Amanda was involved in a collision with a lorry.

The star was unharmed however and thanked the “good Samaritan” who took her to hospital.
