Excited new parents Beyonce and Jay-Z have taken their baby girl Blue Ivy Carter home from Lenox Hill hospital in New York.
The R&B/hip-hop super couple, who welcomed their daughter to the world on January 7, are believed to have left the prestigious hospital last night (January 10) at around 1.30am.
Travelling in a Mercedes-Benz SUV with blacked-out windows, the couple and their baby daughter were followed by a cavalcade of cars, the New York Daily News reports.
Blue Ivy Carter’s arrival has caused huge excitement, with fans and media desperate for a glimpse of the baby – but notoriously private Beyonce and Jay-Z are unlikely to be in any rush to show their tot off.
According to the paper, the couple are believed to be considering holding a small party for close friends and family in the next week or so they can see their bundle of joy.
But it looks like fans might be disappointed if they hope to see Blue Ivy any time soon. A source told The Huffington Post that Beyonce and Jay-Z enlisted extra security to ensure their baby’s arrival wasn’t turned into a “media circus”.
"They refused to allow the birth of their daughter to be a media circus. Ever since the birth, extra security has been added, watching baby and mum 24/7, making Blue Ivy the youngest celebrity in the world to have her own protection,” the insider revealed.
Jay-Z and Beyonce are thought to have taken baby Blue home to their penthouse apartment in New York, which they have reportedly kitted out with around £1 million worth of toys and nursery furniture – including a £400,000 solid gold rocking horse, and a a Swarovski-studded high chair and matching baby bath.
Blue looks set to be one of the most spoiled celebrity babies of all time; celebrity friends of the couple including Kelly Rowland, Kanye West and Rihanna are all thought to have splashed out on presents for the new arrival.
