Beyoncé and Jay-Z have spoken out about their “beautiful” new arrival, baby daughter Blue Ivy Carter.
The R&B/hip-hop superstars, who welcomed their baby girl on Saturday (January 7), said that they are “in heaven” following her birth.
In an official statement issued following baby Blue Ivy Carter’s arrival, Beyoncé and Jay-Z spoke about their joy at becoming parents, and confirmed their first baby was delivered naturally – not by caesarean section as previously widely reported.
The couple said: “Hello Hello Baby Blue! We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012.
“Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives.
“We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support."
According to OK! magazine, the couple have been busy stocking up on £1 million worth of toys and nursery furniture, have splashed a cool £400,000 on a rocking horse for Blue to play on, and have even bought a Swarovski-studded high chair and matching baby bath.
Sounds like Blue is going to be one very lucky little girl!
In late December, reports surfaced that Beyoncé had gone into labour, before false stories surfaced that the couple had welcomed a daughter called Tiana-May Carter. However their little bundle of joy wasn't to arrive until over a week later.
Blue’s birth was met with huge excitement from fans across the world, who read about her arrival via congratulatory messages posted by the couple’s celebrity friends, including Gywneth Paltrow and Rihanna.
Until now the couple hadn’t confirmed Beyoncé had given birth themselves, but two days after baby Blue’s arrival, Jay-Z posted a rap on his website that said: You're my child of a child from Destiny's Child”.
