Beyonce and Jay-Z welcomed baby Blue Ivy Carter into the world on Saturday night.
As the news broke around the world, millions of fans took to social networking sites to congratulate the couple on the birth of their first daughter.
Family friend Rihanna Tweeted: "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih."
Cheryl Cole wrote: "Congratulations to Beyonce and Jay on the birth of their first child."
Gwyneth Paltrow was on hand to clear up confusion surrounding the baby’s name.
Initial reports suggested the little girl was called Ivy Blue, but Gwynnie was quick to confirm it was the other way about, telling fans: "Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already."
When someone questioned, “is it ivy blue, or blue ivy? so confused”, Gwyneth insisted: “It's Blue Ivy Carter!”
Beyonce’s sister Solange simply dubbed the child “the most beautiful girl in the world.”
Music mogul Russell Simmons added: "Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z."
Baby Blue is said to have been born at New York's Lenox Hospital.
