Festive break: Katy Perry and Russell Brand celebrated Christmas separately
Katy Perry and Russell Brand have sparked fresh rumours that their marriage is in trouble after spending Christmas Day 7,000 miles apart from each other.
Singer Katy, 27, was spotted enjoying a sun-soaked break in Hawaii, while Russell, 36, celebrated the day in a much cooler climate in Cornwall.
The fact that Katy’s ring finger was bare also increased rumours of a split – although that could of course be because she was splashing about the sea with friends, and didn’t want to damage her expensive wedding band.
The showbiz couple - who married in October 2010 after a whirlwind relationship - have been forced to deny they are set to split as speculation has intensified in recent weeks that all is not well between them.
The fact that they have spent much of their first year of married life apart has also raised eyebrows, as Last Friday Night singer Katy and comedian Russell have both toured the world as part of their busy work schedules.
In November a major celebrity news website even reported that the couple had agreed to split – but later denied any such report had been published.
Katy took to social networking site Twitter in early December to address some of the rumours that have been circulating about the couple in recent months, writing: "First I'm pregnant, then I'm divorced. #ifihadadollarforeverytime.”
She also recently posted a message that read: “Just cause we don’t flaunt our relationship doesn’t mean there’s something wrong w/it. Privacy is our luxury [sic].”
