Kate Middleton has created mayhem on the high street, after the Zara dress she wore to the Gary Barlow charity gig this week sold out in less than one hour.

The Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning in the above-the-knee black and white dress on Tuesday night, which she teamed up with black opaque tights, suede shoes, a black blazer and a clutch bag.

And just one hour after photos of the duchess wearing the dress appeared at 9pm, every copy of the lacy dress had been snapped up from the Spanish high street chain's website.

The next day all of the dresses had been cleared out of stores too, The Sun reports.

Despite selling for just £69.99. some people were cashing in on the popularity of the garment, putting their copies up for sale online at up to £200.

The short dress was a more risqué option for Kate, who normally plays it safe with on-the-knee or below-the-knee garments.

But the duchess looked elegant and classy in the £69.99 dress, and proved that women don’t have to spend a fortune on designer labels to look good.

Kate was attending the charity gig at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday night alongside her husband Prince William, his father Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwal,

X Factor star and Take That singer Gary Barlow performed for the royals, who were seeing clapping and singing along to some of his biggest hits.

Meanwhile X Factor finalist Marcus Collins, who also attended the concert, has revealed that Kate and Wills told him that they’re big fans of the show.

He told the Daily Mirror: "They both said they watched the X Factor. How amazing is that?”

"They asked if I was nervous about the weekend and I said I couldn't wait. Kate said she was amazed at how much stronger my vocals were live than on television. I just can't believe it."
