Social networking site Twitter was this morning engulfed by a hoax that Simply Red star Mick Hucknall had reportedly died from injuries sustained in a jet-ski crash.

Worried fans had started posting their concerns after ‘Global Associated News’ posted an article reporting the shocking ‘news’.

However, the same website has in the past also posted articles reporting the deaths of Jeff Goldblum, Adam Sandler, Owen Wilson and Will Smith’s son Jaden Smith.

Since all of those appear to be alive and well, it can be safely assumed that Mick is still in relatively rude health.

Global Associated News had reported the following: “Preliminary reports from Turks and Caicos Police officials indicate that the musician struck a concrete boat slip in a marina on Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

“Mick Hucknall was the only passenger on the personal watercraft at the time of the incident. Specific details are not yet available.

“The accident occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m”
