Who's there?: Matt is for a while anyway
Doctor Who star Matt Smith has vowed to stay in the role for the foreseeable future. The actor – who celebrates his 29th birthday today – said: “I love playing Doctor Who.”
There were fears for the future of the Time Lord after he hinted in an interview that he was keen to peruse a Hollywood career.
But, speaking at the launch of the next series, he said: “It’s certainly not a part I want to give up any time soon.
“I kind of take it a year at a time and I finish shooting this season in a month so thereafter we'll wait and see. There's a Christmas special so I guess that means that everyone will sit down and figure it out, but it's certainly something I'm keen to be involved with because I love it - it's a thrilling job.”
The new episodes will see the Doctor, together with Amy, Rory and Riversong, travel to 1969 America to meet President Richard Nixon.
Guest stars include Hugh Bonneville, Suranne Jones, James Corden, Danny Mays, Lily Cole, David Walliams and Michael Sheen.
The first episode of series six will be shown in April.
