The Duchess of Cambridge Catherine Middleton is not pregnant with twins despite reports, a royal source has confirmed.
The new bride, who married Prince William in a fairytale ceremony in April this year, was rumoured to be expecting a boy and a girl.
However a royal representative told gossip magazine Us Weekly in no uncertain terms that the stories – which surfaced in tabloids earlier this week - are false.
"Suffice to say that were it true, it would be us that announces it, not a gossip magazine," the representative added to the magazine.
However the couple have made no secret of their desire to become parents, so it might not be long before we hear the patter of tiny royal footsteps.
During the official royal trip to Canada in June and July this year, Kate was rather taken with two-year old Raffaela Cheater who presented the duchess with flowers.
The little girl’s father David took the chance to wish Kate and Wills well in their efforts to start a family of their own, to which she replied: Yes, I hope to”.
Meanwhile it has emerged that the display of Kate’s stunning Alexander McQueen wedding dress at Buckingham Palace has helped boost tourism numbers to the royal residence.
The gown went on show alongside the 1936 Cartier Halo tiara Kate wore on her wedding day which the Queen lent her, as well as the duchess’s wedding shoes and the diamond earrings which her parents gave her to wear on the big day.
It is estimated that the wedding display will pull in £8 million.
A spokesperson for the Royal Collection told the Daily Mail: "This year has been our highest to date. The wedding dress has proved very popular."
