Arctic Monkeys triumph at MOJO Honours List

Arctic Monkeys put on their suits "especially" to scoop Best Album at the Glenfiddich MOJO Honours List 2011 tonight (21.07.11).

The 'Brick by Brick' rockers received the fan-voted trophy for their latest record, 'Suck it and See', at the awards - organised by the British music magazine – making them glad they had dressed up for the occasion.

Frontman Alex Turner told BANG Showbiz: "I put my suit on tonight especially.

"It's just great to be nominated by someone like MOJO and even to be invited. It's great, man. Coming from the public it means a lot more to us."

Alex also told how his next focus is to prepare something special for when the group return to play the UK in October, including one of their biggest shows to date at London's O2 arena.

He added: "We're going to have a think about getting something special together for our tour later this year.

"I've never played at the O2 before so I'm looking forward to that."

Other winners at the awards, held at The Brewery in London, included Brian Wilson, who picked up the MOJO Hall of Fame Award, ex-Beatle Ringo Starr, who took the MOJO Icon Award and Primal Scream, who's 'Screamadelica' album was named MOJO Classic Album.

Pop-soul singer Rumer also won, taking home the MOJO Breakthrough Award, and said she can't believe how far she's come in such a short space of time.

The 32-year-old singer said: "I think this is my first major music award. This means an awful lot to me, to even be in the same room as all these people. About a year ago I was working on a farm."
