An Australian soccer player has been sent off from a match for refusing to remove his penis piercing.
After being hit painfully in the groin by the ball, Melbourne Old Hill Wanderers reserve player Aaron Eccleston was told by the referee adjudicating a match against Swinburne Reserves that he must remove the intimate item.
However, when he refused, the soccer star was marched into the dressing room and shown the red card.
A spokesperson for the club said: "At this point the referee became aware that the he had a body piercing.
"He subsequently received two yellow cards, firstly for re-entering the field of play without the referee's permission, and secondly for privacy reasons being unable to prove that he had removed the piercing."
The Old Hill Wanderers have confirmed they are satisfied with the actions of both the player and the referee.
