After Kate Middleton and Prince William tie the knot this Friday, they will enjoy a stunning feast of exquisite food with 300 VIP guests.
What better way to celebrate the joyous occasion than with a menu fit for a King… and Queen!
While the rest of the country tuck into barbeques, picnics and Kate and Wills themed cupcakes, Andy Cumming, head Chef at top Glasgow restaurant Rogano, has revealed what he thinks the Royal Family will be enjoying on the special day.
Rogano, whose address is fittingly Royal Exchange Place – will have a special, Royal inspired, five course menu, available this coming weekend.
Featuring ‘the best of British’, the menu will be presented in French – a custom that dates back to the days when the whole Royal kitchen were drafted in from across the Channel.
Andy gave stv.tv reporter Laura Boyd a sneak preview of the delicious menu and explained: “Kate and Wills are the modern face of the Royal Family, but the food is also bound to be steeped in history.
“Whilst no-one knows for sure yet what they’ll be eating, what’s certain is that they’ll draw almost exclusively from British ingredients that are in-season, meaning every mouthful will be delicious, as well as being home-grown. Charles is known for being really into the provenance of food and drink and Will really looks up to his dad, so expect plenty of organic produce. It’s likely that there’ll also be a nod to Scotland, given that’s where Kate and Will met.”
Andy’s top tips for the Royal feast include a starter of native oysters from the Loch Ryan oyster beds with champagne jelly pearls.
For the fishcourse; Marrbury Smokehouse Smoked wild river cree salmon with lime and pink peppercorn dressing and warm bilinies – this fish featured on the wedding menu of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
Main course will be roast cannon of welsh organic hill lamb with braised savoy and new Jersey Royal potatoes and for dessert, it has to be Queen of puddings.
If you fancy feeling like a Prince / Princess for the day, you can indulge in Rogano’s menu for £40 or £75, including complementary wine.
