Simon Cowell is tipped to collect a knighthood in the New Year Honours list. But Bruce Forsyth is likely to miss out… again.
The other hotly tipped name to become a sir is David Beckham.
Simon is backed by senior politicians because of his charity work as well as his high-profile contribution to the entertainment industry.
Even the bookies back X Factor boss Simon for a knighthood when the Queen publishes her list on December 31.
Strictly Come Dancing fans have long campaigned for Bruce Forsyth to be honoured, but so far have been unsuccessful. And even he is convinced he’ll miss out again.
He told a Sunday newspaper: “I’m sure it’s gone for another year. I’m always in good company because Morecambe and Wise never got a knighthood and no one was ever bigger than them.”
Meanwhile, bookies think David Beckham is a near certainty for an award. And he has backing from inside the Palace as Prince William is a supporter.
Wills told the BBC: “His contribution to football is exceptional. He is an example to young footballers of how to play the game with skill, integrity and determination.”
