Gay vultures split up to go straight

Two gay vultures at a German zoo are going to be split up.

The homosexual birds have spent the last few months building a nest together at the Allwetter Zoo in Muenster much to the dismay of keepers.

The zoo desperately needs to breed new vulture chicks and so has decided to move one of the male birds to a nest with a female so they can mate.

Gay groups in Germany are protesting against the decision but curator Dirk Wewers insists the couple have to be separated.

Wewers said: "They weren't happy as a gay couple anyway - the other vultures picked on them and stole their nest materials."
