Coleen Rooney is said to be distraught following claims that her footballer husband Wayne cheated on her with a prostitute, while she was pregnant with their son Kai.
The fashion stylist and TV personality has been holed up at her parents’ house since the story broke, and was spotted in public for the first time yesterday since the news emerged, to visit her disabled sister Rosie in hospital.
According to sources, Coleen is finding it extremely hard to cope with the idea that Wayne could have betrayed her so badly. A source told Star magazine: “Coleen is in bits. She can’t believe that Wayne could have betrayed her like this.”
Wayne reportedly admitted to his childhood sweetheart that he had slept with 21-year-old prostitute Jenny Thompson seven times over four months last summer, paying £1,200 each time for the privilege. Coleen was carrying their first child, son Kai, at that time.
The footballer’s family image is now in tatters and he risks losing £6 million a year in sponsorship deals based on his wholesome reputation.
Meanwhile, PA have published an apology from Jennifer Thompson’s parents, Hamish and Dana, who have said they would like to offer their “most sincere apologies to Coleen”.
The couple issued a satement saying: "Following the various newspaper articles concerning our daughter Jennifer, we would like to offer our most sincere apologies to Coleen Rooney and her family.
"This may sound somewhat hollow, but my wife and I would never condone what has or may have happened.
"We had absolutely no idea about any of the allegations and claims that have been made."
It’s not the first time Rooney has been caught up in a seedy sex scandal. Several years ago he made a public apology after being caught visiting a backstreet brothel several times, where he had sex sessions with various vice girls including a grandmother who dressed in a rubber catsuit.
Meanwhile the turbulence in his personal life certainly didn’t seem to stop Rooney scoring on the pitch, with the footballer scoring for England in their Euro qualifier against Switzerland last night.
