What a Tweedy: Cheryl and Ashley Cole granted divorce
Cheryl and Ashley Cole have been granted a 'quickie' divorce at London's High Court.
The couple were together for four years but split in February, following reports concerning Ashley’s infidelity.
According to BBC news, the decree nisi was granted by District Judge Christopher Simmonds, on the grounds of Ashley's admitted unreasonable behaviour.
Providing neither party objects, the preliminary divorce order will be finalised within weeks.
Divorce proceedings were briefly put on hold when Cheryl became ill with malaria but as soon as she recovered, legal teams were urged to hurry things along.
A source told The Sun: “Cheryl is in the States but is watching things very closely. She is relived and pleased things have progressed significantly since her illness. She just wants to move on with her life and getting the divorce done will end a very painful chapter. It must be remembered that Cheryl did not ask for this. The last thing she expected was to be a divorcee at 27.”
