Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle will sing for the Pope when he visits Glasgow on September 16.
The devout catholic will perform in front of thousands as part of the pontiff's open air celebration of mass in Glasgow's Bellahouston Park.
She will take part in the Pre-Mass, performing hymn How Great Thou Art and the song with which she has become synonymous, I Dreamed a Dream.
She will then join the 800-strong Pope's choir during the Mass.
Post-Mass, she will sing a farewell song as the Pope leaves the Park.
Susan told the Daily Record the invitation to sing before Benedict XVI was her “greatest dream come true".
She said: "To be able to sing for the Pope is a great honour and something I have always dreamed of. It's indescribable.
"I've always wanted to sing for His Holiness and I can't really put into words my happiness that this wish has come true at last.
"I am humbled and honoured by this invitation and I hope I can do my best."
The delighted star added: "The Pope's visit is a very big event for Scottish Catholics.
"My own faith is the backbone of my life, I pray and say the rosary each day and am very close to my religion.
"My family will be there on the day on what will be a very special day for all of us and I hope they will be proud of me."
A spokesman for the Susan was keen to stress the importance of the day saying: "It is a religious event, not a concert."
It’s also going to be an extremely poignant day for Susan as she believes her late mother, Bridget, will be with her in spirit as she performed.
