Joe McElderry, who won last year’s series of The X Factor, is to launch his debut album at legendary London club G-A-Y, it has been revealed.
Joe, who was up in Glasgow performing at the city’s Glam in the City in June, will take to the stage to promote the album just two days before it is released.
The 19-year-old singer was reluctant to give any specific details about the gig away, but promised it will be a good show. He told Metro: "We'll keep it a surprise but I am going to have to pull something out!"
When STV spoke to Joe he told us that that his album will “shock people” because of how different to the style he adopted on The X Factor.
Joe, who recently announced that he is gay, also admitted that he finds it strange that he was listed as a gay role model by the charity Stonewall.
"It feels weird," he said. "I don't really see myself as a role model but I would never do anything that is bad as I realise people are looking at me."
Meanwhile, the new series of X Factor starts back this Saturday, August 21 at 7.30pm on STV.
