Shining star: Brittany Murphy
The former business manager of late star Brittany Murphy has claimed that her husband withdrew “huge amounts of money” from her bank accounts, after she passed away in December 2009.
Simon Monjack, who himself passed away just five months later of anaemia and pneumonia, aged 40, is accused of draining most of her resources, reportedly leaving her mother, Sharon, in financial uncertainty.
Speaking to People, Jeffrey Morgenroth said: There were huge amounts of money in (her) pension plan and bank account, and all of that's gone.
He added: "I would see it on the statements. There was money being withdrawn by Simon, hundreds of thousands."
However Simon’s mother Linda has denied the claims, saying that the screenwriter"didn't get much, maybe a few hundred dollars, and he paid off his debts with it".
According to the financial manager, Monjack’s mother Linda also ordered Brittany’s mum - who lived with the pair - to leave the couple’s home in the Hollywood Hills, following the actress’s death.
“Before Sharon could say anything, Linda stated the house was now hers," Morgenroth claims.
Clueless and Just Married star Brittany passed away aged just 32-years-old, days before Christmas last year. Her cause of death was recorded as pneumonia, anaemia and multiple-drug intoxication.
These latest claims are just the latest update in the mystery surrounding Brittany and Simon’s deaths. Last week news emerged that suggested mould that was present in the couple’s home was in fact to blame for both of their sudden deaths.
