Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson has revealed how he learned an American accent for his role in the popular movies – and it has nothing to do with going to a voice coach.
The British star instead polished up his US drawl by listening to his favourite rappers, which gave him inspiration for how to pronounce the words in the correct way.
Speaking on Oprah Winfrey’s show recently, the actor, who plays Edward Cullen in the vampire series, explained that he first became aware of rap as a teen when he flirted with the idea of becoming a rapper himself.
And we’ll bet he’s now pretty grateful for his musical taste as a youngster, as it helped him become the famous actor he is now!
Speaking to the chat show legend, R-Pattz said: "I used to want to be a rapper when I was like 14, I swear to God!” He added: "I have a lot of recordings, I used to do an American accent."
However, it seems that while Robert is glad of his ‘accent coaching’ from gangsta rap recordings, his co-star Kristen Stewart is less than impressed with his American accent.
Speaking on the show, Pattinson revealed: “Kristen thinks I do the most terrible accent,” before she replied with: “No, I don't, just occasionally something little will come out and I'll say 'We don't do that!'”.
Meanwhile, the stars of the latest Twilight movie, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, hit the red carpet in London last night for the UK. But fans of the movie were disappointed that the three biggest stars – Robert, Kristen and Taylor Lautner - chose to stay away.
