Robert Pattinson has sparked controversy by saying that he is fed up with the intense attraction that surrounds the Twilight movies - and can’t wait to move onto new projects to get away from it.
The Brit actor will no doubt devastate fans of his work, who have closely followed his career since he was catapulted to worldwide fame, after appearing in the films.
R-Pattz made the comments in an interview, during which he said that he would be pleased when “the whole thing is done in seven months”.
Speaking to The New York Times, the actor said of the hype surrounding the movies: "It can get a little boring. The good news is that the whole thing is done in seven months.”
Pattinson worked on a number of other projects before Twilight, including appearing as Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter movies, but it wasn’t until he took the role as vampire Edward Cullen in the hugely popular series that he truly shot to global fame.
So the fact that he now appears so ungrateful about the attention he now receives from fans of the movies is sure to be a bit of a sore point for them.
While having a rant about the movies, Pattinson also took the opportunity to have a pop at the press intrusion that comes with being a movie star.
"I've learned to let it go a bit, but I'm still really bothered by it,” he said. “The more you are exposed, the more people irrationally hate you. I think we reached a point, a peak, with New Moon where the stories became so saturated into the culture that it started to feel normal.
"It's like the tabloids don't know what to write anymore because they've used up all their scandals."
But it doesn’t look like R-Pattz is too desperate to stay out of the limelight, with the actor taking on parts in movies including Bel Ami, Water For Elephants and Unbound Captives.
