Hallelujah: Susan Boyle to sing for Saint Pic: Rex Features
Susan Boyle found her voice through going to Chapel and sought comfort through the Catholic Church in troubled times.
Now she is said to be honoured to have been asked by the Vatican to perform at a concert for Italy's most popular saint, Padre Pio.
Much to the Blackburn singer’s delight, a senior figure in the Roman Catholic church travelled to her home to personally invite her.
Susan will perform in front of thousands of devout Catholics at San Giovanni Rotondo, where Padre Pio, a monk who died in 1968, spent his ministry and now lies in a golden crypt.
Maria Dorrian, of the Padre Pio Centre, told The Mirror: "Susan inspires us, not only through her music, but spiritually."
The Britain's Got Talent star is also being lined up to sing for Pope Benedict XVI during his visit to Glasgow in September.
BLESSED BOYLE
Susan Boyle previously told Simon Cowell’s brother Tony that she would “drop everything” to entertain the Pope.
A spokesman for the Catholic Church told the Daily Record: "We would be delighted if Susan Boyle was to perform on the day at Bellahouston Park. She is top of our wish list.
