Home Alone: Night SuBo retrurned to find more than her cat Pebbles waiting for her
I Dreamed A Dream star Susan Boyle has admitted she was shocked to find an intruder in her Blackburn home at the turn of the year but claims the security lapse was just a blip.
Speaking in an interview ahead of the return of Britain’s Got Talent, the show that made her a singing star worldwide, the 49 year-old spinster from Blackburn in West Lothian admitted the break in had left her shaken.
Recalling the night when she came face to face with the intruder in her council home having flown home to Scotland after recording vocals for Simon Cowell Haiti quake charity single, Everybody Hurts, she told The Sun: “When I was coming home from my friends I opened the front door and the guy just came down the stairs and brushed past me.
"That scared the living daylights out of me and I don’t know how the hell he got in.”
A 16 year-old youth has since been charged in connection with the incident but Subo denied claims that security surrounding her was inadequate.
She said: “There’s no question about it, my security was OK, it was just that particular night was a bad night. I’m getting all the care I need.”
SuBo whose album I Dreamed A Dream has sold over 10 million copies netting her a fortune of £4m so far also claimed she was now living the dream after a remarkable year that has seen the unemployed church volunteer become a huge international star, recognised the world over.
“It has been an absolutely fantastic 12 months,” she gushed. “I’ve been learning all the time about my singing and the world, been to new countries and I hope to learn more.
"Things have come on leaps and bounds in the last year and I have had a good team around me and lots of support from everyone and fans, without which I wouldn’t be where I am now.”

The star also played down reports her fame was to blame for reports of bizarre antics that suggested she could be in meltdown, including singing to a mop at Heathrow Airport in January, claiming it was just her “wacky sense of humour.”
Commenting on the mop incident, which also saw her flee down Heathrow’s Terminal Five screaming, ”I’ve escaped, I’ve escaped” after Airport staff tried to calm her down she said: [It] was just a bit of a carry on. I meant no harm. It was just a joke.
“It’s my wacky sense of humour. I didn’t mean any harm and if I offended anyone it was just a piece of fun. I was messing about dancing and singing. These thing sget blown out of proportion.”
SuBo alos revealed that of all the places her fame has taken her to ,Japan, where she recently celebrated her 49th birthday in front of 10,000 fans is one of her favourites. She said: Every city has its own personality. Los Angeles has its own special glamour but Japan has a very delicate personality.”
