True fan: Boy George thinks Alex Reid is "great"
Boy George has said he finds Katie Price’s husband Alex Reid an inspiration and would like to be more like him.
The Karma Chameleon singer got to know Alex when they both appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in January, and he was instantly taken with the cage fighter – despite admitting he expected him to be “an idiot”.
Speaking on Alan Carr's Chatty Man, the flamboyant star said he also admired Reid’s openness about cross-dressing and his alter-ego Roxanne.
Boy George said: “I like Alex. He's great. But I love the drag thing. I love Roxanne." The former Culture Club singer also said he admired how Alex dealt with Vinnie Jones in the house.
He continued: “There was one point where Vinnie Jones was being nasty and Alex went, 'Do you want a cup of tea, mate?'. I thought, 'I need to be more like that'. It's a brilliant way to handle people. Like everyone else, I originally thought, 'This guy's probably an idiot'. But straight away I thought, 'No, actually he's a very sweet bloke'. The right man won."
The interview with Boy George will be shown on Alan Carr's Chatty Man on Thursday, March 25 at 10pm on Channel 4.
Meanwhile, Boy George is believed to have signed with VH1 to do a six-part reality series about his attempt to re-launch his career.
