Pete Doherty: arrested following Robin Whitehead's death
Rocker Pete Doherty has been arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs, following the tragic death of heiress Robin Whitehead.
The musician, 31, is one of four people who have been questioned about the death of the 27-year-old who was a good friend of his.
Robin was found at a flat in Hackney is East London on January 24, after paramedics answered a 999 call. She died from a suspected drugs overdose.
Two other men, aged 28 and 41, were also arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug. The 41-year-old man was also questioned along with a 53-year-old woman on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice. The woman is suspected of allowing her premises to be used for the supply of controlled drugs.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "A 31-year-old man was arrested on March 19 on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs. He was bailed to return on a date in April pending further inquiries."
Babyshambles star Doherty, who spent a lot of time with Robin, said he was “shocked and saddened” to hear of her death.
Whitehead, who was a filmmaker, was the granddaughter of the late Teddy Goldsmith, the founder of The Ecologist magazine. Her mother, Dido Whitehead, is a cousin of Jemima Khan and Zac Goldsmith, and her father is 1960s filmmaker Peter Whitehead
Her work included a completed documentary film about Doherty’s former band The Libertines, titled The Road to Albion.
