Four celebrities were left to do battle on tonight’s nerve tingling live Dancing On Ice semi-final.
And as usual watching their every move, with this week’s required element, a solo spot of at least 30 seconds were Ice Panel judges Jason Gardiner, former Spice Girl Emma Bunton, Nicky Slater, Karen Barber, and head judge Robin Cousins.
So how did Hayley Tamaddon get on as the show got down to the business end in deciding who would next week’s final ?
Having consistently topped the leader board since the series began. until last week when Danniella Westbrook pipped her to first place, Hayley and partner Daniel Whiston were determined to show why they’re rightly regarded as the couple to beat to win this year’s Dancing On Ice crown. And they didn’t disappoint.
Done out in blue lagoon outfits with a waterfall fringe and dancing to Lennon and McCartney classic In My Life, Hayley and Daniel’s routine featured a one foot spin in the solo section; catch foot counterbalance lift (watch the crown jewels there Daniel) followed by a wraparound and finally a stag layout. So were the judges impressed? An overall score of 27’5- including a 6.0 from Robin suggested they were.
A very chuffed Robin said: “I wasn’t expecting to do it at all [score a maximum 6.0]. I loved the practice this afternoon but there a couple of moments that were just a little bit jarring in between the transitions.. But it was beautifully placed tonight, and the one thing I picked up on straight away there was absolutely no change in the quality of what you were doing once Dan joined you. It stayed the same, fluid throughout.
WEEK ELEVEN HIGHLIGHTS
Hayley Tamaddon's Week Eleven Performance
Kieron Richardson's Week Eleven Performance
Danniella Westbrook's Week Eleven Performance
Gary Lucy's Week Eleven Performance
Yes it was nice and serene and controlled but you had everything right tonight. Skating was brilliant at the beginning; the spin was controlled. Very nicely done young lady.”
Nicky, who scored lower than Robin added: “Well done. It was precise; it was poised and your presentation is just beautiful. But the skating is slow over the ice and when you come together as a couple you have a lot more speed. You’re a dancer on ice for me at the moment but you’re not free as a skater on ice yet.”
Jason disagreed telling Hayley: “It’s called dancing on ice and that’s exactly what you’ve done. You started off and I didn’t worry about you and that’s what we’re looking for. There’s nowhere to hide in this solo spot and for me you two move so beautifully together..it’s perfectly pitched. It was a sublime performance. Exemplary.”
In the end Hayley made it safely through to next week’s Grand Final as EastEnders actress Danniella Westbrook lost out to The Bill star Gary Lucy in the skate-off.
