Ashley Cole: Cheryl can have ‘whatever she wants’ in divorce

Tough times: Cheryl has been offered whatever she wants in her divorce

Ashley Cole has promised that Cheryl Cole can have “whatever she wants” out of their shared possessions if she decides she wants to push ahead with a divorce.

The footballer had been painted as being a bit mean in the last few weeks, and was rumoured to be ready to fight to stop Cheryl from getting her hands on his fortune.

But sources are now saying that he’s desperate to do whatever it takes to prove to Cheryl just how much she means to him.

An insider told The Mirror: “Ashley is going to any lengths to prove to Cheryl that she means more to him than anything.

"He wants her to know he is deeply sorry for what he has done. He has said she can have whatever she wants or needs – and that includes any sentimental gifts or presents.

"She’s not bothered about the gym equipment and things like his trophies – likewise all of Cheryl’s discs will be hers to keep. But some of the joint wedding presents and gifts will be harder to separate.”

It seems that the couple’s “amicable” meeting on Friday night has made Ashley see that his wife means business. But according to insiders, the singer is still “too raw” to think about what items she wants to take from their marriage.

Some of their shared belongings include a £6million mansion in Surrey and two pet chihuahuas Buster, four, and Coco, three.

The pair didn’t sign a pre-nuptial agreement before their fairytale 2006 wedding, because Cheryl said she didn’t believe in them. 'I think that's defeating the point,” she said at the time. "We're getting married because we're committing ourselves to spend our lives together. No ifs and buts.”

Ashley is reportedly worth around £14million, and he is thought to earn roughly £6million a year, which includes £4.2million in wages from Chelsea plus sponsorship deals. Meanwhile, Cheryl’s own fortune is estimated at approximately £6million, and divorce experts have said that she could be in line for a £22million settlement.

The Fight For This Love singer has hired Paul McCartney's no nonsense divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton – a clear sign that she isn't playing games – so it looks like Ashley better get his chequebook ready.
