It’s not been a good week for Take That, with news emerging about Mark Owen’s infidelity - and now Howard Donald is facing a public backlash after it emerged he had a fling with a married fan.
The 41-year-old singer is alleged to have had an affair with 28-year-old mum of one, Merith Van Onselen, in 2008.
According to reports in The Sun, the dad of two, who was single at the time, seduced the Dutch fan when he was DJ-ing in a club in Berlin.
The pair are then said to have embarked on a “passionate” eight-month affair behind Merith’s husband Dave’s back, while he stayed at home looking after their baby daughter, who is now three.
And Dave admitted that once singer Howard showed an interest in his wife, who is a member of the official Take That fan club, he had no hope of holding on to her.
Dave, who is said to be “devastated” by the claims, told the paper: “She was a fan. Not many women would turn him down. She didn’t.”
Far from denying the revelations, Merith, 28, has boasted about her steamy fling with the singer, saying: “He (Howard) has a very high sex drive. He wanted exciting sex and he sure got what he was looking for.”
Howard, on the other hand, has no far remained tight-lipped on the latest claims to rock the band’s camp.
