Dream success: Susan's teacher only just recognised her.
Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle first heard her most famous song in an Edinburgh front room. Singing teacher Fay Lenore, 82, introduced Subo to I Dreamed A Dream.
Susan went on to stun the world with her rendition of the Les Miserables belter during her audition.
The YouTube clip became one of the most viewed ever.
Fay, who now lives in Peebles, only just realised that her former pupil is world famous.
She told the Scottish Sun: "I was clearing out some paperwork when I found my diary for 1993, and flicked through it.
"The singing lesson schedule on April 20 reads '11am, Susan Boyle'.
"No wonder she seemed familiar. It was me who taught her I Dreamed A Dream.
"When I heard her singing on television, I recognised her voice, but quite honestly I turned it off because I can't stand Simon Cowell or that type of show."
Fay – who once sang with Frank Sinatra and was a resident singer on STV’s The One O’Clock Gang – has taught other stars including Ashley Jensen, 40, star of Ugly Betty, and Stanley Baxter, 83.
She added: “She (Susan) does have the most marvellous voice. I did recognise that when I first met her all those years ago.
"She had this fabulous voice but she was an old-fashioned looking girl who was a wee bit too extrovert."
