Pot luck: Robbie likes drug, but can't take it.
Robbie Williams has revealed he enjoyed smoking marijuana, but that he didn’t like the effects. Anti-drug campaigners have blasted his comments.
Speaking to Radio Times magazine, singer Robbie said: “Weed, it’s such a lovely drug. It is such a lovely drug. But it doesn’t mix well with me - at all.”
The star, who has battled addiction and depression, was talking about the well-known effect where users get intensely hungry.
He said: ““Did you see me last year? Have a look at last year. Yep. Year of the Munchie 2009. But it’s just a shame about weed, because I did love it.”
The 36-year-old, whose song Morning Sun is this year’s official charity track for Sport Relief, also talked about his last stint in rehab.
He said: “I was dying. I got to the point where I really, genuinely didn’t care. I’d just got fat and depressed before. Then this one was like, ’you might die’."
Debra Bell, who wrote a book about the devastation her son’s cannabis use caused, spoke to the Daily Mirror.
She said: “Does he really know what he's saying? This drug causes huge damage to children and their families."
