Dancing On Ice: Boyzout! Mikey Graham 'Coming Home Now'

Irish eyes weren't smiling on Boyzone star Mikey Graham tonight after he became the latest star to exit Dancing On Ice on tonight’s movie themed show where a solo spin was the required element

The 37 year-old singer was forced to skate for survival with partner Melanie Lambert  after the public voted him in the bottom two of tonight’s live show alongside EastEnders actress Danniella Westbrook

But despite a close call from the judges and both stars turning in arguably better performances in the skate off than they had originally it was Mikey who finally got the thumbs in a tie break that saw the judges vote 3-2 in favour of Danniella

Commenting on their verdict first up for the judges was Karen Barber. She said:” Mikey you did a great spin, that was three rotations. Danniella, you had strength throughout the performance but a weak element. But tonight for me I went with Danniella.”

Next up it was Nicky Slater: “In the skate off people often relax and get more flow. And you both did that, “ he said. “But Mikey your performance moved me and your spin was superb. So I save you.”

At 1-1 it was then the turn of show Mr Nasty Jason Gardiner, who also saved Mikey commenting: “This is where it becomes very exciting now because we have very good people and that was a great skate off: both stepped up. But for me tonight , nailing the required element is key. So therefore I save Mikey.”

But there was still one more twist to come as Emma Bunton drew the scores level as she opted for Danniella, leaving head judge former Olympic champion Robin Cousins with the deciding vote.

He said: “It was a great skate off. And you both upped your game. But one spin does not a performance make,” and with that Mikey’s run on the show was over.

The star had been busy this week with Boyzone commitments that curtailed his practice time for the show and had danced to bandmate Ronan Keating’s solo hit When You Say Nothing At All from the movie Notting Hill.

When host Phillip Schofield joked it was “precisely what Ronan didn’t want (earlier on a videoclip on the show Ronan spoke of his fear he’d end up being blamed for Mikey’s exit), the 37 year old singer joked: “He says it best when he says nothing at all!”

Talking about his time spent on the show an upbeat  Mikey said: “There comes a time at the end of every party when it’s time to leave. And I’ve really had the most amazing journey. It’s such an adventure.”

He also paid tribute to Boyzone star Stephen Gately who died tragically last year and had also taken part in the show, saying: “I want to thank Stephen up there.”
