Every year T in the Park Festival Director, Geoff Ellis, says this year’s T will be the best yet. After unveiling 2010’s spectacular line-up, it seems his prediction could be right.
He told us this year’s festival has “one of the best and certainly most diverse line-up’s to date with Kasabian, Emimen, Muse, Black Eyed Peas and Jay Z… and Biffy Clyro, Paolo Nutini and Calvin Harris flying the Scottish flag.”
A proud Geoff added: “It’s the best line-up we’ve had at launch in all the 17 years.”
As well as a fantastic line-up (you can read full details of who’s playing here), Geoff praised the fans who really make the festival special and one of the must-see events of the summer.
He said: “The T in the Park audience is probably the most unpretentious audience. They’re certainly up for a good time, they’ve got catholic tastes ready to check something out like Plastic Man in the small tent or go and dance around to the Proclaimers.”
It seems every year there and more and more festivals to choose from and RockNess has become an increasingly popular festival for Scottish fans. With Fat Boy Slim and The Strokes headlining RockNess this year, does Geoff feel at all threatened by the competition?
It doesn’t seem so. He told us: “Competition is always good.”
Foreign festivals are also becoming popular amongst music fans looking to see their favourite acts in a holiday atmosphere. Geoff explained to us that T goes along way to ensure fans enjoy the entire experience of the weekend and not just the music.
He discussed how fans can arrive on the Thursday, there’s fancy dress Friday, the fairground and the much loved ‘Healthy T’ area, where the more health conscious festival goer can enjoy sushi or porridge.
Much to the delight of up and coming bands in Scotland, Geoff also revealed that “T Break will be back.” The stage has been a popular addition to the festival, providing a platform for up and coming talent to get noticed. Indeed many acts who are now featuring in the main bill, including Biffy Clyro, Paolo Nutini and The View, all started off on the T Break stage.
With such a diverse range of music from major International bands, to dance masters and indie rockers alike, who is Mr Ellis most looking forward to seeing?
After giving it some thought, he said: “Florence and the Machine will be fantastic.”
