Strictly done texting: shamed star vows to put an end to sex text obession
Family Fortunes host Vernon Kay is struggling to keep his marriage together after admitting to four more sex text affairs.
His shock confession follows on from revelations yesterday that he’d been sending racy texts and Twitter messages to 23 year-old Page 3 glamour model Rhian Sugden.
Now 35 year-old Vernon has held his hands up to sending smutty texts to four more female friends over a period of four years.
Vernon claims the texts started off as “innocent” banter that then escalated into something entirely different. He also admitted to flirting on Skype, which allows people to see each other while they talk, but insisted: “I never stood naked in front of it.”
Speaking in The Sun the remorseful Radio 1 DJ, who vehemently denies ever having had physical sexual relations with any of the women he texted, said: “I’ve been stupid and daft but I’m not a sex pest.
“I know a single guy can get away with things like that but I’m married and I understand this is off limits.
“I can’t tell you why I do it. It just happens and the stupid and daft person in me lets it carry on..
“I’ve only done this with four or five girls and I’ve known them all well- they’ve been friends or work colleagues. It was always 50/50 and I don’t give my number to every Tom, Dick and Harry.”
Vernon and wife Tess, who recently gave birth to their second child, eight-month old baby daughter Amber are regarded as one of TV’s most glamorous couples. They married in 2003 and have another daughter, Phoebe, aged five.
Speaking about the impact the revelations have had on his family he said: “Tess is extremely upset about this and we’re working through it.
“But in some ways I’m glad this has come out. It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
“I knew it was getting silly. I’m never going to do it again and hopefully I can clear the slate clean and start again. I’m so sorry. I’ve been an idiot and let my family down. I’ll do whatever it takes to resolve the situation.”
He also revealed he feared being rumbled by wife Tess. “Part of me says she was suspicious on a couple of occasions. “I think she may have seen some of the more harmless ones. I did think I should be careful but you don’t think it will escalate.”
