But not for much longer however, as show bosses prepare to screen the Street’s first lesbian snog this April.
The shock twist comes after schoolpals, religious teen Sophie Webster and Sian Powers get up close and personal, despite both having taking vows of chastity.
A source at the show revealed the explosive new storyline to The Sun newspaper. It sees Sophie (Brooke Vincent) comforting her friend Sian (Sacha Parkinson) after she spits up with boyfriend Ryan Connor, played by Ben Thomson after he trie sit on with Sophie, daughter of Coronation Steets' on/off couple kevin and Sally Webster
However the sisterly hug between the two soon turns into a steamy kiss, despite the church going teens having taken a vow of chastity.
Sophie tells Sian: You are far more important to me than any lad,” before a shocked Sian gasps “I’ve got to go” and flees the Webster home.
While Weatherfield can boast soapland’s first transsexual character with the appearance of Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) in 1998 this will be the Street’s first ever “lipstick snog.”

Away from the world of soaps, Alyson Hannigan’s Willow in Buffy The Vampire Slayer had probably the first lesbian long-term relationship in TV with Tara (Amber Benson). And of course who could forget that Simpsons snog as Marge locked lips with another woman during a naughty dream Homer had.
And if you can’t wait for Corrie’s clinch Desperate Housewives stars, former Bond girl Terri Hatcher and Eva Longoria are set to steam up the small screen in the UK next month when they indulge in a hot lesbian kiss.
