Fresh from her Las Vegas wedding to Alex Reid, Katie Price appeared on The Chris Moyles Show this morning to promote her latest reality show and set the record straight on her relationship. What’s more, the star spoke out about her ex-husband Peter Andre and said she hopes that they can be friends and that one day in the future, they can all get together for a BBQ.
Critics have been quick to slam Katie’s recent nuptials claiming that she is just in it for the money and publicity but today the TV star and businesswomen said the papers that publish these stories are “an absolute joke.”
Never one to mince her words, Price was very matter of fact and claimed these papers are a “sham” and that contrary to belief, there was no magazine deal in place for her wedding pictures. She said the only pictures from the wedding are locked in her safe, although later indicated that they may appear in a magazine if a deal is now struck.
She spoke of her relationship with Alex and told Chris Moyles: “We just got married, we’re so happy.”
Chris probed her about the proposal and the fact she had previously dumped Alex live on air after coming out of the I’m A Celebrity jungle. Katie said: “He proposed to me last September and I said yes.” She explained that the public dumping came as a result of the couple being “poisoned” by people around them and that they did meet up in Australia after the show and have been together ever since.
Moyles got on to the obvious subject of her ex-husband Peter Andre who had been on his breakfast show last week, the day after Katie and Alex had got married.
Katie told the Radio One DJ: “I would love to speak to him. I’d love him to come round but it’s hard with the people around him.”
When Chris pointed out to her that she had previously made Peter cry she had a slight go at her ex for his recent public displays of emotion. Katie said: “he made me cry but I don’t have to do it on TV.” Moyles replied: “You did” and Katie quickly jumped in with “but I don’t still do it.”
It seems though that she wants to put all the problems of last year behind her and get on with her future as Mrs Reid, ideally with a civil relationship with Peter for the sake of their kids.
She said: “If Pete’s listening, which he’s probably not, I would love to have him round to cook a barbie.”
Whether Peter will take her up on the offer of playing happy families remains to be seen but one thing’s for certain, Katie is determined to make this her year.
Focusing on the future she told of her desire for children with Alex and how 2010 is all about “Katie the businesswoman.” Moving away from the turbulent times of 2009 she said: “I hope this is a good year for everyone.”
