It can be hard for a long-term relationship to sustain sudden worldwide success, and so it has reportedly proved for Susan Boyle and her beloved cat Pebbles, who are reportedly leading separate lives.
The Daily Record has reported that the purrfect pedigree Turkish swimming cat was given to a pensioner in London to look after while Boyle went on her travels around the world.
However, resentment seems to have set in, and the moody moggy apparently refused to even say hello the last time SuBo was in town.
According to reports Pebbles has been living with 76-year-old retired accountant Pamela Eaton-Browne since July, and has not yet even bothered to purchase her own copy of I Dreamed a Dream.
Eaton-Browne explained: "One day Simon Cowell said to my friend, 'Do you know anyone who will look after this cat, because Susan's flying all over the world and what do you do with the cat?'
"Anyway this friend said to me, 'We all know you like cats. Would you have Susan's cat for a couple of weeks?'"
Susan has visited the flat three times, and Eaton-Browne said of the Scottish singer’s last visit on February 3: "They pulled up at 2.40pm. It was Susan, my friend and the new PA, who is one of her nieces - a very nice lady who sits there and pats Susan's hand.
"They made such a racket, the three of them, that Pebbles shot under the wardrobe and didn't want to know. So Susan was here for an hour and a half and didn't see Pebbles."
Pebbles has not yet commented on the matter. A spokeswoman for Susan confirmed: "This lady has met Susan on a couple of occasions and she's looking after Pebbles at the moment for Susan."
