Cowell targets Lady GaGa for US X Factor role

X Factor chief Simon Cowell wants to sign up Lady GaGa as he prepares to take the hit show to the states.

The triple BRIT award nominated pop diva appeared on the X Factor last year promoting single Bad Romance in a spectacular routine set against a ginat bathroom set..

Cowell is said to have been so blown away he wants her as a judge when the US version of the show debuts next year.

According to a report in The Sun, X Factors insiders say the New York Diva , noted for her eccentric fashion style, has been asked to look at her schedule to see if she can fit the show in.

A source told The Sun: “Simon thinks Lady GaGa is great and really likes her energy. Conversations have been happening between Cowell’s US team and her people about what kind of role she could have on the show.”

Pop mogul Cowell recently announced he was quitting American Idol to take X Factor stateside.

If GaGa (real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) does agree, a hectic touring schedule means that she may not be able to commit to appearing every week, but could guest judge instead.

The Fame Monster star is nominated for three Brit Awards at next month’s 30th anniversary bash-International Female Artist; International Album (for The Fame) and International Breakthrough Act.

Other names said to be in the frame for a slot on the US X Factor judging panel include Cheryl Cole, Kelly Rowland and Paula Abdul. Cowell has publicly ruled Victoria Beckham out the running.
