X Factor mentor Louis Walsh sacked the boys in Westlife twice during their rise to fame, according to reports. The music producer has mentored the boyband since the early 90s.
Boyzone singer Ronan Keating co-manages the Irish band with Walsh.
Shane Filan told Contactmusic: "He's fired us twice!"
"He thought we were being arrogant little rock stars and said, 'Look I can't deal with you'."
He added: "Two years later the same sort of thing happened again - he just got a vibe that we were a little bit too big for our boots.
"We were all genuinely devastated. I was crying."
Meanwhile, Louis has no acts remaining in this year's X Factor after John and Edward's departure on Sunday.
Walsh has said all the "fun has gone" from the series following the exit of the twins.
Speaking on The Xtra Factor, Walsh said: "Jedward were the best of my acts this year and that's why I picked them. Kids loved them.
"All the fun has gone [now]. All the fun has gone absolutely.
"Talk to the young children, they are going to miss them."
