X Factor bad boy Calvin Harris headlines Edinburgh’s Hogmanay

It is the first time a late-night party has been held as part of the build-up to Hogmanay on 30 December.

Harris who has worked with Kylie, Madonna and h Dizzee Rascal recently caused a storm when he rushed the stage at Saturday’s X Factor Live show during John and Edward’s rendition of Queen’s Under Pressure, then started mimicking the pair by dancing around with a pineapple on his head.

The fruit n nut also slapped his bum and tried to join in the performance before being grabbed by security guards.

Harris had been due to appear on X Factor spin off The Xtra Factor but has now banned from the X Factor set altogether, with show boss Simon Cowell said to be furious at the interruption. The chart topping pineapple chump’s gatecrashing antics have now led to security on the show being tightened up.

Yesterday he claimed he was trying to  "make a mockery" of the show's "terrible" music and his appearance in Edinburgh will be something of a coup for the event’s organisers..
