New dad Mel Gibson to marry again?

Mel Gibson’s girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva - who recently gave birth to their first child together – has said she’d love to marry the actor.

The claims have sparked rumours that the couple, who got together earlier in the year, are now planning to tie the knot.

Speaking to Glamour magazine, the singer - who met Mel after signing to his Icon record label – said: "I would like to get married. Right now we are just so happy together. It is great because Mel is fantastic with kids.

“He had seven of his own children already, so he understands the dynamic of parenthood very well. He is a big kid himself, really - a practical joker. We laugh so much."

The news comes just weeks after 39-year-old Oksana claimed she did not want to make the trip up the aisle with the Braveheart star.

Speaking to Scottish presenter Lorraine Kelly on GMTV in September, she said: “We have no plans to marry whatsoever. I haven't thought about it."

And her love of children was clear for all to see, with the singer adding: "How could one not be impressed with such an intimate connection with the miracle of life, it's beautiful, children are beautiful.”

Meanwhile, Mel has been speaking about the movie that he’s most famous for – the Scottish epic Braveheart. The actor talked to STV about the iconic movie on the eve of the release of the Oscar-winning film on Blu-ray. If you missed it, you can catch it here

Also find out what the STV newsroom think about the film - and meet the woman who appeared as an extra in the movie - in John Mackay's October 27 blog!
