Pop Stars and models head to Glasgow for Freshers Festival

The countdown to the Scotcampus Freshers' Festival 2009 (Scotland's National Freshers' Fayre) in association with The Scottish Sun & News Of The World officially begins today, with the promise of an unrivalled showcase of the best 'preview' to student life yet.

Now in its third hugely successful year, and returning for the second consecutive year to the epicentre of George Square in Glasgow, organisers of Scotland's premier student attraction are gearing up for the  biggest attendance figures to date.

Over 12,000 information-hungry fresher students are expected to descend on the free admission festival, which takes place across the days of Thursday 1 and Friday 2 October, in their quest to discover the secrets to a joyful student life, along with learning a wealth of helpful information and advice

Over eighty big names have signed up to exhibit, entice and educate in the festival's Main Arena including a raft of cool lifestyle brands such as Urban Outfitters, Dominos, YO! Sushi, The Model Team,  Blackberry and Matalan. With a dizzying programme of activity that is sure to put plenty of feel good fun into the more serious issue of further education, Scotcampus Freshers' Festival 2009 will present everything from live music showcases, DJ sets from the hottest names, product samplings, model talent searches, fashion flashes, beauty treats, goody bags and must-attend after parties, plus lots more.

In a major coup also comes the announcement that for the first time the acclaimed RockNess music festival will host its own Arena. More exciting details on that coming soon.

Graeme Barratt, festival director and co-founder of Scotcampus (Scotland's national student newspaper) says "We have been blown away by the response of the last two years and 2009 will be without fail the best yet. The announcement today of such amazing new partners means we expect demand from freshers to be very high. We would urge everyone interested in joining us in October to register online at www.scotcampus.com straight away to avoid disappointment...and to guarantee a VIP goody bag!"

stv.tv will see you there as our very own Laura Boyd takes to the stage on Thursday with her band Pooch.
