Fair enough: David Essex is in musical based on one of own albums
Eastenders star and singing legend David Essex starring in his own musical which is set to arrive in Glasgow next month.
It follows a record-breaking West End season for All The Fun Of The Fair at the Garrick Theatre, where it was nominated for Best New West End Musical 2010 by What's On Stage.
The story is underscored by a helter-skelter of David Essex hits such as Winter’s Tale, Hold Me Close, Gonna Make You A Star, Me And My Girl – Nightclubbing, Silver Dream Machine and Rock On, with many new compositions written specially for the show.
Inspired by the singer’s album All The Fun Of The Fair, the storyline is billed as a heart-warming tale about an East End fairground family with David playing fun fair owner Levi Lee, recently widowed and father of rebellious teenage son Jack.
Many of the West End cast return to the show, including Louise English as Rosa, Tim Newman (Nominated Best Supporting Actor in a Musical 2010) as Jonny and Susan Hallam Wright as Mary.
All The Fun Of The Fair runs at the King’s Theatre from 28th February to 3rd March, for one week only. For ticket information visit: ambassadortickets.com/glasgow.
