Two Glasgow comedians are looking forward to performing at the comedy festival because of the "brilliant" and "unique" audiences.
Des Clarke and Raymond Mearns are stalwarts of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival and both are “delighted” to be performing in the tenth anniversary year.
Both comedians say that it is the home audience that keeps them coming back for more.
Des Clarke has performed every single year at the festival in a variety of different venues.
This year he will be bringing his show An Audience with Des Clarke to the Oran Mor on March 29.
Speaking at the programme launch on Tuesday he said: "I’ve performed in train stations, pubs, theatres, everywhere, in the morning, the afternoon and at night.
"I am Glaswegian so I’m so proud that we have our own festival. It’s great that I have been able to be a part of it for the last ten years. It’s nice to be asked back."
The comedian also co-hosts Capital FMs breakfast show with Jennie Cook.
He added: "The Glasgow crowd make every gig individual, it’s great. What makes this festival unique is the audiences. We get some of the best hecklers in the world and they are intelligent hecklers.
"I am absolutely delighted to be part of the festival."
Raymond Mearns also says that he cannot wait to perform in front of the Glasgow crowd.
He said: "I am absolutely looking forward to the festival. I have performed every year and I have always sold out – but there were only ten seats.
"The audience is brilliant in Glasgow."
His show, Raymond Mearns: Rock’n’ Roll Comedian, the Therapy Sessions, will be on at the Garage on March 15.
The Glasgow International Comedy Festival programme was announced on Wednesday with Dara O’Briain, Sarah Millican, Rory Bremner and Jenny Éclair all performing.
Greg McHugh (Gary: Tank Commander) and Frankie Boyle are also to host a charity gala evening to raise funds for Palestine.
Funded by Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and Event Scotland, the festival rolls into town from 15 March to 1 April 2012 with nearly 100,000 tickets available for more than 330 shows across 40 venues.
Tommy Sheppard, director of the Scottish Comedy Agency, the company behind the festival, said: "Each year the Glasgow International Comedy Festival becomes even more anticipated than the last. It is now a major date in the cultural calendar not just for Scotland, but throughout the UK.
"This year we’ll celebrate ten years of the festival which is a fantastic achievement and shows what a perfect match Glasgow and comedy is."
