Radio supremo Des Clarke, comedienne Karen Dunbar and Over The Rainbow star Jenny Douglas are just some of the big names getting ready to star in Cinderella at the King’s Theatre in Glasgow this year.
Taking on the lead role of Cinders is blonde beauty Jenny, who dazzled during her performances on the BBC show which hunted to find the perfect person to play Dorothy in a new production of The Wizard of Oz, finally being named the runner-up.
Capital radio star Des, who entertains the nation every morning with his witty banter alongside co-host Jennie Cook, is taking on the part of Buttons in the panto, while funnywoman Karen Dunbar is playing the Fairy Godmother.
The all-star cast is completed by Gavin Mitchell, who makes his big return to the theatre this year to reprise his role as one half of the Ugly duo, a role that won him critical acclaim for his performance in 2008.
Gordon Cooper, who is currently touring in I Dreamed a Dream, will play the other Ugly Sister, King’s regular Steven McNicoll takes on the role of Dandini, Kieran Brown (currently performing in Wicked at the London Apollo) puts the charm into the Prince, and panto stalwart John Ramage is tackling Baron Hardup
A King’s spokesperson said: “We are delighted to welcome back King’s favourites Karen Dunbar and Gavin Mitchell and equally excited to be able to introduce Des and Jenny to their first ever panto, helping to put the finishing touches to what is an exceptional Scottish cast for Cinderella.
“It is so important for us to deliver top-notch entertainment during the festive season and we believe the people of Glasgow will once again not be disappointed”.
