Joan Jett has given her nod of approval to Kristen Stewarts’s portrayal of her in forthcoming movie The Runaways.
The eagerly anticipated movie is based on the experiences of Runaways band members Jett and Cherie Currie. Stewart has embraced the role of rock chick by chopping off her famed Twilight locks to look more like the singing star.
Jett was amazed at how much the young actress actually resembled her and told MTV News: “It was amazing. It was surreal. The first time I met her, her hair was still long. Then after she finished New Moon, she got it cut and I saw her out in LA for some rehearsals and it was really incredible. We were both laughing a lot because it’s surreal.”
Cherie Currie also praised the Twilight star and her movie counterpart Dakota Fanning. She said: “I think they’re incredibly down to earth. I’m really proud to know them.”
Fans of the hugely successful Twilight series are keen to see Kristen shine in her latest role and it is also believed that her co-star and rumoured boyfriend Robert Pattinson is just as happy for his very own rock n’ roll queen.
The movie is set to be released in the States on the 19th March and Kristen is looking forward to the world focusing on her true acting ability rather than her alleged off screen antics with Pattinson.
